That which cannot be defeated by force, subdued, or overthrown. From the Latin "inexpugnabilis" meaning that which cannot be taken by the storm.
Salvador Dali - Christ of St John of the Cross
Ah... one of my favorites!Peace,Mike
Hey Angevoix. What is it about this work that you like? What do you mean "Enter Mission?"
Enter Mission was a play on words, as you may have noticed I have titled my last four post like a musical work. So it is a play on the word intermission. Enter Mission - meaning a call to do just that...I love this work because it reminds me of intercession. To me it looks as if Christ is prostrate on the Cross interceding for the world below... I am not sure if that is the original intent of Mr. Dali... But I have this picture on my living room wall and that is what it means to me. I find it very inspiring.
I love that picture and your play on words. Make sure you check out my blog sometime! Be blessed.MC
Cool play on words. Dali's depiction of the Crucifixion is certainly "otherly."
Thank you Ange. You know I had a romance with a protege of Salvador Dali once...I have to assume this guy was a Christian. I have never seen this painting before. Deep. I am supposed to be starting an art project today my self.
