UPDATE

VICTORY IS SWEET

After meeting with Fr. Mike and several other community leaders today the construction company in question agreed to acquiesce to our demands that they hire at least a 50% African American work force.

I guess they decided we were serious after all.

Victory is always good. Hey Ange, what's your position on gay marriage?

Ahhhhh!Just go ahead an put me on the spot Oly.

The only marriage convenant that is ordained by God according to scripture is between a man and a woman. Having said that, I don't believe in trying to legislate morality. If a couple has decided that is the way they are going to live, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be able to have a legal secular agreement that provides them with rights and priviledges as a couple. If they want to go to a church that is accepting of their way of life and have a marriage ceremony, what is stopping them? But I won't back down from the stance that a homosexual lifestyle is sinful.

Just to throw a wrench into the works for the sake of being naughty - wouldn't you say that legislating work conditions and employment practices is legislating morality?

voixd'ange said...

probably so...but they are not private issues of morality...which I suppose is a better way of exressing my sentiment.

ange, I like the way you put your answer to Olympiada. I think I agree with you.

And btw, congrats on getting your way! The way it should be!

I found an article in the BBC news that I thought might be of interest to you:

Thanks for the article MCM. We have a very different setting here in Chicago, but we have done many things similar. Great article. I emailed to my pastor.
Thanks Leslee. My main thing is that I don't believe in being cruel to people in the name of God. I've heard horror stories about how gay and lesbian couples have been treated during an illness or after the death of their partner. I don't see how allowing someone to visit their sick partner in ICU is infringing on my right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness... unless I just don't know how to mind my own business...
