Fall Leaves

One of the things I love about my new place of residence is that I walk to work every day. It is close to a mile and a half. After doing this for a month, I am really beginning to feel great physically. As I walk, many times I pray. Just last week I was walking along, kicking the fall leaves, I was praying about my attitude, which I admit, really has not been great lately. I have been wrestling with depression, fatigue, and just a downright negative attutude in general. I have been complaining quite a bit to be honest. I have yet to find those particular attributes listed among the fruits of the Holy Spirit...

I was praying about this, and asking God to help me to give Him what He deserves and He spoke to me in a crystal clear voice, "Not grudingly, or of necessity." Wow. I hear that quote every Sunday before offering. I always connect it with money. I had never really connected it with personal service. I realised that my service to God of late has been given grudging and forced. I realised I hadn't been giving out of a sense of joyous gratitude. I had just felt tired, tired, tired all the time. And no wonder. Dragging your feet certainly has the capacity to drain your energy.

God must have not felt He had gotten through, because He had yet another message for me.
1 Corinthinas 15:58
"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord for you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Mi Amiga,

I'm sorry but I must. You said, "He spoke to me in a crystal clear voice..."

Do you mean literally?

Do you mean as in audible? No dear one. Not audible.

I suspected as much. I intuit that if we were to ever hear, as in audible, the actual vox Dei we'd go crashing to the ground.

You must find my faith stale or at least overly head vs. heart. It's really not, at least not as much as it might appear. Sorry to always challenge you and Fr. Neo on this front. I'll let it be from now on. We just perceive how God works in this world a little differently. I do believe you though. Well anyway.

How's school Angevoix? Have you cooked up anything tasty using your new knife set? What do you like to cook my friend? I enjoy cooking too. I just got back from an hour long heavy bag work out and I hurt and I'm starving. Grin.

Well, after some food, I'm going out on my back patio for a Sapphire & tonic. I'll check in later. Hey, I posted on EAC a question about the movie "Million Dollar Baby." I know from reading your various posts that you are a movie buff. Have you seen this one?

Geez. I'm just rambling as if we were having a conversation. Time to stop. Buenas noches.

No, I do not find your faith stale in the least. I feel as though we have more similarities than differences as far as our perception of God and faith. You don't have to appologize for your questions. honestly I appreciate the way that they allow me to clarify my thoughts. Many times you ask the one thing that I deciced not to elaborate on for fear of being overly wordy. So honstly I am releived by your questions more often than not.

This quarter is nearly finished, thank God!
What do I cook? Greek Lemon and Olive Chicken
Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Rum sauce.
Stuffed Grape leaves
Challah Bread with poppy seeds
Red Lamb Curry
just to name a few... I love to cook.
I haven't seen the movie yet, i'm sorry to say. I check it out though.
No need to appologize my friend.

Goodness, those be fancy foods! You MUST love to cook! I wish I could come to your house for supper.

I now have housemates. They laugh at me because I put basil, among other things on my grilled cheese...

I love my grilled cheese sandwiches with basil too. Yum! I sometimes put tomatoes or jalapeƱos on them also.

Oh my gawd! I'm leaning over laughing in delight. The food you described had me swooning.

Good food and wine are among the greatest blessings we have in this world!

Grilled cheese with basil sounds divine. In fact, grilled cheese is one of the comfort foods I tend towards when feeling blue.

One way I deal with sad feelings is by knowing that "this, too, shall pass..."

Clearly you have important work in your life to accomplish. Feeling bad sometimes is normal, but remember that we each have a purpose, too...

Thank you for the encouraging words Sarah.
