MOTHER TO SON
Well, son, I'll tell you
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor,

Bare.
But all the time
I'se been climbin' on
And reachin' landin's
And turning corners
And sometimes goin' on in the dark
Where there aint been no light.
So, Boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps
'Cause you find it kinder hard.
Don't you fall now-
For I'se still climbin'
And life for me ain't been
no crystal stair.

What a great poem!

I'm not sure what your picture is, though, because all I see is a message that "such-and-such cannot be displayed because of an error". I'll go check it on my other browser.

Yes, i post my blog on firefox and when I open it on explorer it looks like a mess. Not sure why that is.

The only thing greater than Langston Hughes poetry is having them read aloud in a rich, Ossie Davis/Morgan Freeman-sounding voice.

I love spiral staircases. Not exactly sure why, but they "speak" to me somehow.

Me too C. This particular picture is my desktop background. I thought others might enjoy it as well.

You know what's interesting about the spiral stairs pic? I wonder if the intent of the picture is looking up or looking down.
