Another Dream

I had another one of my dreams.
I was riding down a beautiful boulevard. Being who I am, I had decided to ride sitting on the roof of the car, enjoying the air and the sunshine. The street was tree lined and the median was planted with lush tropical follaige and flowers. I was enjoying the day and the ride when in an instant everything changed. The sky grew dark, the wind picked up rain began to pelt down and tornado sirens began to sound. I climbed down into the car and looked out the windows searching the sky for the tornado. I spotted the funnel cloud and noticed that the tornado was in the process of forming. It would jet down and then rise back up again and again. The driver of the car began to panic and began to take uneccessary risk which were putting myself and the other passengers of the car in danger. I leaned forward and I put my hand on the shoulder of the driver and said firmly, " If you focus and speed up a little, you can beat this storm."

That is one terrifying, yet, beautiful picture! It really grabbed me by the throat for a slight moment.

Question mi Amiga: I watched an interesting movie yesterday called "The Gift." (It had Cate Blanchett in it, that's why btw. Grin.) Anyway, she plays a character that has a psychic ability. The character in the movie claims at one point in the movie that this "gift" runs in her family. She has visions, dreams, "intuitions," does "readings w/ cards," etc. She never does anything bad or wrong w/ this "gift," to the contrary, but I'm wondering how you see this kind of thing given your own experiences. Of course, I ask this with respect, not derision. I’m curious, too, because my own mother is just like this character, and also claims said “gift” runs in the family. She tells me she was born with a thin veil of skin over her face. This “gift” is NOT mine, mind you, but I find this whole thing interesting in light of the fact that some put a lot of stock and meaning into said experiences. Now, here’s another “ of course.” I fully understand the biblical warning/injunction about these things, i.e. Deuteronomy, etc., but then again, as you know, I’m very careful how the bible is applied in life.

Well - I am equally as cautious. For every gift of the Holy Spirit, there is a demomic counterfeit. For example some people have the gift of Prophesy and the demonic equivalent would be the spirit of divination.
I am very cautious with my dreams. I can't explain why, but there are some dreams that I know are from God, such as this one. But regardless, I allow my dreams to warn and encourage me as long as they are in line with the Word of God. Anyone telling you to do something that is directly opposed to the Bible is not opperating under the Spirit of God. God uses gifts to build us up and edify us, but we live our lives according to His Word. In this case, I was having a particularly hard time this week and after the dream I woke up feeling very encouraged and like myself again.

So, would you say that these experiences by definition are either/or--God or demonic?

Well - yes because they tap inot the spirit realm and there is really no neutral territory there, things are either demonic or of the Holy Spirit. Dreams on the other hand can be affected by a lot of things, such as medication, what you had for dinner, daily stresses, or something you had to drink.

I'm going to see if I can send you the rest of my response privately by email.
