Fifty years of doubt. Fifty years of questions. Fifty years of silence. Fifty years of felt absence.

And fifty years of absolute obedience . . .

My only question is how anyone could doubt her being deserving of sainthood.

All the more reason she *is* a saint--canonized or otherwise. In our lifetime, I can't fathom another who has made such an enormous impact of love on humanity and most especially to those in dire need. I could never do what she did, even at my unimaginable best. It always annoys the hell out of me when the anniversary of her death rolls around, which was very near to the date Princess Diana died as well, if you recall, and the great Mother is overshadowed by the glam and glitz of said Princess.

Here’s a quote from my spiritual mentor, Frederick Buechner:

"God reserves his deepest silence for his saints."

I'm sure as hell not a saint! Of course, nor do I converse with God either--it's kind of a one way conversation.

It seems like lately when I ask God questions He only responds that I already know the answer . . .
