Carl Larsson is one of my favorite artist. He painted beautiful idyllic pictures of rural family life in Sweden. He overcame a harsh childhood as the son of an alcoholic father and grew up to become a successful artist and family man.
That which cannot be defeated by force, subdued, or overthrown. From the Latin "inexpugnabilis" meaning that which cannot be taken by the storm.

What's the dude on the right that's looking at us holding and doing?
That's the guy taking up the offering, like the basket on a stick some churches use. This is a bag on a stick...
Don't be silly, Angevoix! It's a windsock, to see which way the Spirit is moving! ;)
ha ha ha! LOL MCM.
But honestly, doesn't he look as if he is tallying up the prospective day's take as the people filter in... very humorous, I think...
He does. I like this style of art. Light and unsophisticated and mildly comic. It looks like a book illustration.
Yes, its a little different from my usual "Art" taste, which is a little heavier and more serious. There is just something so compelling about his images though, which I feel probably has a lot to do with his difficult childhood and subsequent determination to make a better life for himself...
I look at his work and its as if I can feel the joy and relief of a dream realized...
