A Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Is this a pic of Hughes? I like it. He kinda looks like a Rough Rider or a Hemingway.
Which are your dreams?
Yes, it is a picture of Hughes. I chose it because it doesn't look as posed as so many of his pictures do.
My dreams... to get my education, to see my sons finish college and become productive citizens in love with God and for all of us to be in a place where the gifts God placed inside of ua are used to their fullest potential for His kingdom . . . on earth as it is in heaven.
But are they raisins, sores, sugar, etc., as in the poem?
They can be any or all of the above, depending on what I am going through at the moment to attain them.
Love Langston. Thanks.
Hughes is one of my literary heros. James Baldwin is another.
Great choice of heros!
